She gallops into the Meadow from the shores of Glistening Sea. Her coat had crystals of sand embedded in her hair and the smell of salt lingered in her mane. She had just been shown again how there was no certainty in the world. Once there was hope but now she is not so certain. She gallops and gallops. She thinks with no reservations. Her mind was a stream bubbling with thoughts, brimming over the banks and tumbling into her actions. She bucks in frustration. Her dam cannot be right. There has to be more to life than war, blood, and abandonment.

The black mare caught the scent others on the breeze and slowed her charge. She slid to a stop and snorted. Her ears flew foward in the direction of the scent, straining to hear. There were others. Her eyes scanned the meadow, searching. Then the wind changed and everything was gone. Times shook her head and breathed heavily. Bands tighening in her chest.

Times snorts and her eyes started to mist over. There were others in the meadow, but they didn't want anything to do with her. Why would she have expected anything else. The black mare screams in frustration and broke into a hectic charge. Her muscles straining under her coat, her hooves grabbing for purchase in the soft meadow earth. Her voice rang clear over the meadow.
